If you remember way back to September 2010, GenYJourney featured the girls of Libre, LLC – four recent college grads who started their own clothing company specifically for infusion patients.
As Libre has continued to grow their business, they have also grown their influence in the cancer and dialysis communities. Bethany Skaff, VP of Manufacturing spoke of their community involvement: “We are partnered with multiple organizations to help the dialysis and chemotherapy communities.”
This year, the Libre team is working with former Ohio State quarterback Craig Krenzel and his team to raise money for their ride in Pelotonia – the annual bike ride fundraiser for the James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.
“The money raised through Pelotonia goes directly to the James and cancer research, but in addition to that we also have people close to us involved in the bike ride. It seemed like a great opportunity to support both our friends and our partner organization in their efforts to raise awareness and end cancer.” said Skaff.
On Thursday, August 11, Libre will be hosting a Fashion Show fundraiser for Pelotonia at Harrison Park Club House in Columbus. The fashion show will feature clothing being worn by the riders, former Ohio State basketball players, NBC 4 sportscaster Matt Barnes and several patients from the James Cancer Center. The event has a goal of producing $3,000 in donations for the cause.
If you are in Columbus, I highly encourage you to attend (I’ll be there!). Tickets can be purchased directly from the Libre Events Page. If you are unable to attend the event, I suggest just a small $5 or $10 donations to any of the individual riders to support their cause. Every dollar is an important part of their overall fundraising goal.
