Different from the Baby Boomers, the Millennials were born not during a time of dramatic social changes but a time bursting with technological changes. Our world is now smaller with the ability to communicate faster and through time zones.

Living at home can be a pleasurable experience where you’re afforded the time to mature and save money in a loving, supportive environment. The fact is that not all of us Generation Y boomerang kids had helicopter parents. For that lot, not being able to escape their parents’ house equates to being trapped in quicksand.

As a college student or young professional (hereto referred to as a “YP”), it’s imperative that you become actively engaged in your community. Regardless if you plan to stay in your community for the long-haul or not, getting your hands dirty, literally or figuratively speaking, can only help create positive opportunities for you. Here are some suggestions on how to seek opportunities to get involved in your community.

Applied in the figurative sense – which is the sense mostly meant on this blog – you’re supposed to infer that a journey, wherever it begins, has a beginning, a middle, and presumably, an end. But this begs the question, what are we expecting to find there, at the end? Who’s behind the wheel? And will anybody read my Tweets in the Library of Congress when I die?

It’s hard for me to believe I have been out of college for seven years now and high school for 12. I’m rapidly approaching the end of my twenties, a fact that is somewhat painful to admit in one sense, but kind of exciting in another. This milestone birthday has got me thinking. A lot.

With two years of college under my belt, I can say that my journey has taken me great distances and yet I am only at the beginning of my path. Despite my youth of experience, I have already discovered that there are two ideal traits to staying motivated and traveling far – passion and ambition.

For me the frustration comes from my impatience. I want to reach my full potential soon…like right NOW. I want to meet my goals of making useful products that will create passive income, having a blog with hundreds of subscribers, and not have to really worry about money all the time. I just want these things, and more, now. I’m excited to meet my future.
