30 Day Minimalist Challenge: Day 26
The 30 Day Minimalist Challenge is my personal initiative to reduce the amount of “stuff” I own. Over the course of 30 days, I will be getting rid of one item each day and either throwing it away, donating it or selling it online. Join me in my journey to a more minimalist lifestyle.

Day 26: Table

Wow…this is probably the toughest item to part with. I’ve had this little table since I made it in Industrial Tech during my sophomore year in high school. I made a lot of furniture and such through out high school but this piece is special. I initially built it so that I could eat supper at it from the futon in my childhood bedroom. It was specifically made for this purpose and the perfect height and size for two people to eat it.

I can’t tell you how many suppers I’ve ate on this table. It made it all the way through college as my breakfast, lunch, supper, homework and drinking game table, and as the only dining table in my current apartment.  I wish this table could talk because it certainly has seen a lot!

This is just part of growing up, I guess. I can’t be eating supper at this table my whole life.  I’m sad to see this piece go…

Why part with something that means a lot to you that could have some use in the future?

I would have no use for it for at least the next year. Which means it going to be a piece of clutter and not a table. At that point, it would just stress me out because it’s taking up critical space….

Do you think that’s kinda crazy?

I am not a hoarder, I swear.  But, I think important things are worth keeping. Otherwise, donate it?
